My journey to becoming an Environmental Advocate

It was during my first year in college when I felt like my contribution to the society was not enough. I am a consistent student-leader since junior high school. Being on the side of the organizing team IS tiring yet it IS always fulfilling. I could say that it definitely molded the person I am today. But I always seek for improvement and change in my life; the idea of spontaneity resides within me. It felt like what I was doing was not enough. It occurred to me that it was lacking and that I was bound to do something more than I used to. I was already practicing less usage of plastics, segregation, and other “Atenean” stuff which lead me to seeking more opportunities to help the environment. There were many environmental organizations, but I found myself applying forProject Dyesabel.

I was accepted and currently part of the organization. For a year, I was satisfied with my contribution to help the environment. Being a SEAperhero is more than just picking up trash; it is digging the shore to find used sachets and diapers instead of gold. It is more than just planting trees; it is living the experience of climbing rocky slopes to plant seedlings. It is more than yelling in a protest; it is trying to reach the capitalists and stop the injustices. It was more than the 8hr drive without my parents’ permission for a protest; it is raising my banner against culprits for a purpose. Being a SEAperhero is more than just writing this; it is actualizing it and treasuring those experiences which made an impact to both myself and the society.

For a year, I did environmental initiatives which have developed my care and love for the environment. I am excited for my next adventures as a SEAperhero.
